一篇西方人写的简介性质的文章，来自国外的Visual Novel.NET网站，写作风格与着眼点同咱们貌似有所不同。在翻译此文的同时，我特别从英文的内部测试版里选配了几张截图，让大家对英文版有个直观的了解。---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clannad is about a high school delinquent (your character), Okazaki Tomoya. There are many characters and unlike regular dating sims, your friends, and other people close to you as well, have their routes which help you understand the story better. . Each route has a different kind of story. Of course, the stories aren’t limited to only dating girls and boyfriend-girlfriend relationships but there are also story revolving around friendship, education and most important of all, family.

Clannad的故事中，主人公冈崎朋也是一名不良高中生。和常规的恋爱模拟游戏不同的是，游戏中角色众多，你的朋友以及你周围的很多人都有他们自己的线路，这将帮助你理解整个故事。每条线路都是一个不同类型的故事。当然，这些故事不仅仅局限于和女孩约会，以及男女朋友关系，还有很多是关于友情，教育，以及核心主题——家庭。
Main Characters:
Although there are only five main female protagonists, there are many routes in the game. Don’t think that it would be awkward for main characters to have their own routes. The different routes have their own purpose in the game.
主要人物：
尽管只有五位女主角，但是游戏中的线路却远不止这个数。不要认为每个主要角色都有自己的线路是多余的，每个不同的线路有它自己的目的。
Okazaki Tomoya: Tomoya is the male protagonist. He has been labeled a delinquent due to his habit of arriving late to school and skipping cl***es. He lives alone with his father whom he argues with constantly. While on his way to school, he met Nagisa.
冈崎朋也：朋也是男主角。因为习惯于迟到，旷课，他被贴上了不良学生的标签。他和父亲生活在一个单亲家庭中，父子之间经常吵架。在一次上学的路上，他遇见了渚。
Furukawa Nagisa: Nagisa is the main heroine of Clannad. She had an illness that lasted nine months that led to her repetition of her third year. She doesn’t have much self confidence and is often in need of being motivated by others, mostly Tomoya. Her seiyuu is Mai Nakahara who also voiced Rena Ryugū from Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (anime) and Aono Morimiya from Sola.
古河渚：渚是Clannad的第一女主角。她之前九个月一直在生病，不得不再读一次高三。由于缺乏自信，她很多事情都需要别人来推动——大多数是朋也。渚的声优是中原麻衣，她曾经在《寒蝉鸣泣之时》中配过龙宫礼奈，在《Sola》中配过森宫苍乃。
Fujibayashi Kyou: Kyou was one of Tomoya’s cl***mates during second year and has maintained a steady friendship with Tomoya even though they are put in different cl***es on their third year. She is known to be a bit bad-mouthed and aggressive but is also a good cook. She likes to throw different dictionaries at someone she’s furious with. You can say she’s a bit tsundere. She is voiced by Ryō Hirohashi who also voiced Negima’s Anya and Ai Yori Aoshi’s Mihori-san.
藤林杏：杏是朋也在二年级时候的同班同学，尽管在三年级被分在不同的班里，他们仍然保持了稳固的朋友关系。她以强力吐槽和作风强势而闻名，不过料理水平很棒。她在暴怒时喜欢对目标投掷各种字典，称得上是傲娇属性。她由广桥凉配音，这名声优曾经出演过《魔法老师》中的阿妮亚以及《青出于蓝》中的三堀さん。
Ichinose Kotomi: One of my personal favorite characters. Kotomi is another schoolmate of Tomoya’s in the same year. She is in the top ten for every subject throughout the whole country in standardized exam results—she always goes to li***ry to read extra materials, especially books in foreign languages. She is quiet and quite difficult to communicate with. Her seiyuu is Mamiko Noto, who is known for a having a unique soft and cute voice. Yakumo from School Rumble and Hecate from Shakugan no Shana are also voiced by her.
一之濑琴美：我个人最喜欢的角色之一。琴美是朋也的另一位同年级的同学，在全国联考中各科都名列前十。她总是去图书馆阅读课外书，特别是外语书籍。她性格内向，不擅与人交往。其声优是以细腻、可爱的独特声线著称的能登麻美子。《校园迷糊大王》中的冢本八云和《灼眼的夏娜》中的海卡缇也是由她担任声优的。
Sakagami Tomoyo: Tomoyo is a second year transfer student. Although she is Tomoya’s junior, she does not show him due respect as a senior. Likewise, Tomoya doesn’t treat Tomoyo like a junior. She was rumored to be violent and she has a misconduct record for fighting. Later on, Tomoya learns that she wants to run for the student council as the council president. She is voiced by Houko Kuwashima who also voiced Clare from Claymore, Flay Aster from Gundam Seed and Stella Loussier from Gundam Seed Destiny.
坂上智代：智代是二年级的转学生。尽管是朋也的后辈，她并没有向他表现出对学长的尊敬。同样的，朋也也没有把智代当作后辈来看待。传闻中她曾是一个暴力少女，有着不良的斗殴记录。后来，智代决定去竞选学生会主席。她的声优桑岛法子曾经配过《大剑》中的古妮雅，高达Seed中的芙蕾·阿尔斯塔以及高达Seed Destiny中的史黛拉·路歇.
Ibuki Fuko: She is a first year student in Tomoya’s school. She stays in one room alone and makes small wooden carvings of starfish with a small knife as a present to give to others. Tomoya finds out that she’s getting hurt using a blunt knife and confiscates it. Later on, he gives it back to her. Her route has many funny events but beneath that is a very touching story.
伊吹风子:她是朋也所在学校的一年级学生，常常独自待在一间教室里用一把小刀制作海星小木雕作为给他人的礼物。朋也发现她被这把很钝的小刀弄伤了，于是将其没收。后来，他把刀还给了她。这条路线中有许多有趣的事件，然而在这背后是一个非常感人的故事。
There are more characters in the game and have their own routes as well.
游戏中还有其他很多角色都有自己的路线。
The whole story of Clannad was said to focus on family. Thus, much time is required to finish the game with a good/satisfying ending/s. At the beginning of the school year, Tomoya meets Nagisa Furukawa, a soft-spoken girl. Her goal is to join the drama club which she was unable to do due to her sickness, but they find that the drama club was disbanded after all the members graduated. Tomoya decides to help Nagisa in reforming the drama club. During this period, Tomoya meets and hangs out with several other girls who he gets to know well and help with their individual problems.
Clannad的整个故事的核心是家庭，需要花费很多时间才能打出这个游戏的好结局。在学年一开始，朋也遇到了渚，一个柔弱的女孩。她的目标是加入之前因病未能参加的话剧部，但是他们发现话剧部在所有部员都毕业后已经废除了。朋也决定帮助渚重建话剧部。在此期间，朋也结识了其他几位女孩，相互熟悉起来之后，他也帮助她们解决各自的问题。
The After Story isn’t just a epilogue but more of a new game because there are a few different endings to achieve, the last one being the true ending. The After Story follows Nagisa’s route since she is the main heroine, after all.
After Story 不仅仅是一个后传，更可以说是一个新的游戏，因为同样存在着不同的结局去达成，其中最后一个是真正的结局。渚作为第一女主角，After Story延续了她的路线。
Another visual novel, Tomoyo After: It’s a Wonderful Life, was also produced by Key/Visual Arts as an After Story to another character, Tomoyo. Many fans hoped that other female protagonists had their own After Story as well.
另一款视觉小说，智代After:It’s a Wonderful Life也是由Key/Visual Arts出品，是另一个角色——智代的后续故事。很多粉丝都希望其他女主角也能同样有自己的After Story 。
Clannad gives out many opportunities for you to cry your heart out. It touches the heart and warms the soul.
Clannad会给你许多放声哭泣的机会，这是一款能触动心扉，温暖灵魂的感人之作。
Graphics（9/10）
Good “eye candy” character designs for the female protagonists. The facial expressions were either cute and touching or hilarious and amusing. Most of the time, a character’s emotions can be clearly seen in his/her facial expressions. Although the supposedly opening movie popped up where it would be less expected, it was above average in quality even if it were only a slideshow. But it would be better if it were played at the beginning of the game or at least when you play the game for the first time.

女主角们的人设都很出色。脸部表情十分丰富，可爱，感动，欢乐，搞笑都有所体现。大多数时间里，一个角色的心情都能明显的从他/她的脸部表情中看出来。尽管OP出现的位置有点出人意料，而且仅仅是播放幻灯片的形式而已，但是其质量也是在平均水准之上。不过如果能够在游戏一开始就播放或者至少在首次进入游戏时播放应该会更好些。（译者注：老美的见识实在是.......OP出现的位置显然是有深意。）
Backgrounds can be a bit repetitive but it’s not really that of an eyesore. The attention becomes more focused on the character on screen. In-route CG’s (CG’s that are shown in the middle of a route) have good quality but tends to become a bit repetitive. Some CG’s are the same except for the character’s wardrobe. Ending CG’s and “special moment” CG’s are of above average quality and can keep you staring at it for a few seconds to a few minutes.
背景画面的重复率有点高，但并没有产生太大的负面影响，玩家的注意力更多的放在了屏幕中角色们的身上。路线CG（故事中段的CG）的质量不错，但也感觉有点重复。一些CG除了人物的服装之外基本是相同的。结局CG和特殊事件的CG的质量较高，往往能让人品味一段时间。
Music/SFX（8/10）
The BGM fits the mood of the scene. If the BGM is too loud, it makes the voices a bit hard to hear. The BGM volume may be a bit hard to configure for one’s own personal comfort. The songs are nice and touching. One of those songs is entirely in English. The message conveyed and the melody of the song pleasant, regardless of bad grammar. There are only a few sound effects that can be extremely noticeable. 8/10
音乐/音效（8分）
BGM和情节配合得很好，有点时候BGM的音量有点大，导致很难听清楚语音。BGM的音量要想调成每个人的理想状态，设置起来有点困难。歌曲都非常动听。其中一首是全英文的，寓意隽永，旋律优美，就是语法错误有点多。至于音效方面则没有太多值得一提的地方。
Voice Acting（9/10）
Some say that the unvoiced version is better because it allows the reader to imagine the voices in his mind. They say that’s a good thing because the reader’s imagination is their “exceeded expectation” at work. Thus, their “exceeded expectation” is satisfied. However, the voiced version isn’t something to be disappointed with. With the voices, you can better understand the emotion a character is feeling, especially with a few stereotype characters like Kyou, Tomoyo and Kotomi. Some seiyuus in the game are well known and are chosen
well for their character (see character profiles below).
配音（9分）
一些人说无语音版更好，因为可以让读者自由想象。他们认为这很棒，因为读者的想象总是根据他们的喜好来的，这样就总能满足他们的期望。然而，有语音版并没有让我们失望。通过语言，你可以更好的体会到角色的感受，特别是像杏，智代，琴美这样的角色类型。游戏中的几位大牌声优都非常适合配她们所担当的角色（见前文的介绍）。
Anime Comparison：
The anime follows the Nagisa route. In the anime, the arcs of the female protagonists were made almost perfectly in harmony so as conflicts in Nagisa’s route were avoided. Of course, a few edits in the storyline are needed. Fuko’s and Kotomi’s arc were as good as their routes in the game. However, Tomoyo’s arc was a bit lacking and Kyou’s arc, if there is any, was scattered all throughout the story, leaving some fans disappointed. Nagisa’s arc was done a bit well.
和动画比较：
动画走的是渚线。在动画中，各女主角的剧情都被完美的整合起来，从而避免了与渚线的冲突。当然，剧本必须有所改编。风子线和琴美线达到了游戏的水准，智代线缩水了不少，而杏线，如果硬要说有的话，也是七零八落，分散在整个故事中，让一些粉丝很是失望。而渚线做的还是不错的。
System/Extras（8/10）
Clannad runs on Reallive.exe. It is a user-friendly game engine but there are times when players have the tendency to find out if there are more options available. If you don’t have Japanese pack or you haven’t set your local setting to Japanese, the game won’t crash but it will stop once the text window appears during the prologue. As far as I know, this game doesn’t have any secret places to c*** but it has mini games or something close to that in the different routes.
系统/附加（8分）
Clannad使用Reallive引擎，用户界面相当友好，就是有时会让玩家觉得可设置的选项不够丰富。如果你没有日语包，或者你没有把你的本地设置改成日文环境，游戏虽然不会崩溃，但会在序章中每次文本框一出现的时候卡住。就我所知，这个游戏并没有什么隐藏场景，但在一些线路中有几个类似于小游戏的设计。
Overall:
The game has a very soothing environment. You will really feel the emotions of the characters. Not too much flashy effects and sounds but that will definitely be overlooked.Storylines are great and heartwarming. It makes you feel what Tomoya feels or what you think he feels. One of this game’s strong points is the way it greatly puts you in Tomoya’s shoes, which is what a visual novel aims to do. And Clannad has very well succeeded on that. Not much Easter eggs but you’ll take up a lot of time trying to unlock the few secrets Clannad offers anyway.
总体：
游戏营造了一个极富生活气息的环境，你将切身体会到角色们的情感。并没有太多的动画特效和音响效果，但是这完全可以忽略。整个故事十分优秀，感人至深，让你对朋也的所见所闻和所思所想有着感同身受的体验。游戏的一大优点就是让你对朋也有很强的代入感，这正是一款视觉小说所应追求达到的效果。而Clannad十分成功的做到了这一点。游戏中没有太多的隐藏要素，但是要想解开几个小秘密还是需要花一番功夫的。
Originally in Japanese, it is yet to be enjoyed by English speaking communities.If you want to know or learn a few things about family, friendships, school and love, try this game, I can guarantee that this wouldn’t be a waste of your time.You’ll laugh and you’ll cry. You’ll experience love. And you’ll love the experience. Pun intended. Have fun!
原作是日文的，不过很快英语国家的玩家们也将能够体验到。如果你想要体会一番家庭，友情，学校和爱情的种种，请尝试这款游戏，我保证绝不会是浪费你的时间。有欢笑也有悲伤，你会体验到爱并爱上这段体验。最后语带双关的说一句：祝大家玩得开心！（译者注：这里应该是在暗示CLANNAD的催泪属性。）

截止发帖之日为止CLANNAD英文版尚未正式发布，不过英文化的翻译工作已接近完成，维基百科上可以查到进度情况。
我觉得作者给CLANNAD音乐的分数明显偏低，要知道YouTube上有人上传了Clannad的OST，那些老外们都听得呆掉了，泪奔的大有人在，特别是《Town,Flow of TIme,People》，《Roaring Tide》，《Shining in the Sky》这几首，绝对是好评如潮。（不知道这几首BGM的面壁去）
此外，Visual Novel.NET上AIR的评价超高，GameSpot上AIR的评分也很高。
